I have this abnormal habit when it comes to facial masques. I am very much addicted to masques. Particularly clay masques because I have oily skin (an oil factory type because it gets so irritatingly oily especially with the type of weather we have here in the Philippines). I also have gel wash-off, peel off and paper masques. I apply masques on a nightly basis believe it or not. I know it is bad for my skin but I don’t care as long as apply a suitable moisturizer and do other beauty routines to compensate.
Today I will be sharing my
views regarding my favorite clay masque- the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque.
Most bloggers consider this as their Holy Grail Masque and after using this for
almost a month I now understand why this masque is well-praised and loved for
years now.
This Mint Julep Masque
claims to help dry up acne pimples, rinse away blackheads and shrink enlarged
pores. I will have to say this right away- this contains methylparaben. Because
some consumers are just acting like retards upon reading that as one of the
ingredients. Yeah you have read it right…RETARDS. Do you really have to panic
like it is the end of the world? Are you gonna be instantly ugly when you
finish a tube of something that contains paraben? I have been using some
products for years now which contain paraben and I am still sane and have the
same normal-looking face. Anyway, let’s get back to the review. I have been
using this masque for almost a month. During the first week I have these 2 huge
zits on my chin because I had my monthly facial. After I applied the masque for
3 nights straight, my zit got smaller (on the 5th night it was
gone), the huge pores on the sides of my nose became smaller and my I woke up
without feeling like an oil factory. I also use this on my neck once a week and
after rinsing I notice that the skin on my neck becomes instantly soft and firm
looking. It did not cause any rashes or breakouts until now.
To sum things up…
PROS
-
The product is big and contains a lot
-
Only a little amount is needed to cover the entire face
-
It comes in a tube (there is a tub also but rarely sold) and I
find that hygienic
-
Has a minty scent (like Colgate) and sensation once applied on
skin
-
Sucks up oil and makes your face less oily
-
Heals pimples
-
Minimizes pores
-
Safe for sensitive skin
CONS
-
A bit pricey (considering where I live)
-
Hard to find
-
May be a bit drying for some skin types
-
Some may not like the Colgatey scent
-
Did not help with the blackheads at all
I highly recommend this
masque to people (men and women) with oily or combination skin. If you are the
type of person with normal to combination or sensitive skin, just use this baby
once or twice (the most) a week because this may dry skin. But of course
regardless of skin type, use a moisturizer (oil-free if you are an oil factory)
afterwards and I do not need to elaborate why. I give this baby a 5 out 5
rating!
What is your favorite
facial masque? Have you tried this baby? I would love to hear from you.
